Apache Stainless and Mepaco announce a new white paper about stainless steel finishes for sanitary application industrial equipment. Mepaco is the food processing group in the Apache Stainless Equipment Corporation family. Apache's other business groups specializing in manufacturing with stainless steel material are: ASME tanks, small / portable vessels and the contract manufacturing group.

For food, pharmaceutical and chemical producers, the level of finishing on processing equipment is dictated by federal and state regulatory agencies. In sanitation applications, the finish as well as the material must also be designed for efficient and reliable cleaning and sanitation. The new white paper outlines cleaning efficiencies and cleaning benefits for a spectrum of stainless steel finishes and material.

The white paper serves as an educational and informational reference to include:

  • Definitions of stainless materials and measurement designations
  • An overview of surface textures of stainless material
  • A comparison guide to mechanical and chemical finishes
  • Surface smoothness testing findings
  • RA comparisons by material and finish

"This is a very informative reference document that we've developed to help our customers understand the finishing process," states Dennis Buehring, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Apache and Mepaco. "This information is important to our customers in all our business groups from tanks and contract manufacturing to our food processing equipment group, Mepaco."

As long time manufacturers of stainless equipment, Apache has considerable expertise in working with stainless steel and finishing applications. In addition to an expert staff of technicians, Apache offers in-house automated mechanical polishing as well as on-site passivation and electropolishing services.
